Official Statement from the Managing Director of Tobin Brothers Funerals

It has been brought to our attention that in recent days, an individual claiming to be an employee of Tobin Brothers has been making numerous highly racist remarks across social media and the wider internet.

The person in question goes under an alias however all the photographs on this individual’s  profile page do NOT indicate that the person is a current or former staff member at Tobin Brothers Funerals.  Were the position otherwise, the individual concerned would face the most serious disciplinary sanctions.  

Our investigations are ongoing.  The motivations of this individual in claiming some association with Tobin Brothers Funerals and targeting the Company and its staff in this way are presently unclear.

Tobin Brothers Funerals was established in 1934 and for the past 85 years we’ve served the changing needs of Multicultural Melbourne.  Today we currently speak over 30 languages and serve various multi-cultural and religious communities.  We employ staff from all walks of life.  The diversity of our staff and their different cultural backgrounds is celebrated by us and considered a core strength of our business.

This week is Multi cultural week in Victoria and we have been proud sponsors of this week for a decade.

Tobin Brothers Funeral does not tolerate racism or bigotry in any shape or form and we are extremely concerned and distressed that we have been wrongly linked to such posts in recent days.

We are extremely grateful to the members of the public who brought these posts to our attention.  We deplore and reject the conduct of this individual who appears to want to cause hatred and division amongst the many wonderful communities which Tobin Brothers Funerals and its staff have dedicated themselves to serving.
